Selling:Unframed the measurements are 11 1/2inches x 16 1/2inches or 30cm x 42cm the attraction for me was the color of the web catching the light and the fern starting it's journey of life, at that time my family and i were beginning a new journey leaving NZ moving to Australia. $4000.00 or near offer australian dollars. |

I bought these paintings in 1994 at the rei hamon gallery in geyser court Rotorua, Awanui was running the gallery at the time,i walked in when he was finishing the Bue Night, no prints have been taken from this original as i liked it the instant i saw it and waited in the shop while awanui framed it......over the past 15 years my family and i have moved several times, from NZ to Sydney and now we have moved again this time to Queensland, i have taken the paintings out of the frames as scared of damage to the painting from the glass. It has been sealed in enamel spray and transferred to the parchment. A technique perfected by rei Hamon. Awanui then painted the ferns and gecko completing a unique father/son artpiece. Rei Hamon died on August 16 2008 at the age of 89. He was world renowned for his pioneering pointillism art. Rei's motivation was the deteriorating effect mankind had on native flora and fauna. His art works based themes around the consrvation of wildlife and this was reflected in him being a staunch campaigner for the conservation of the Coromandel region where he lived. |
